Typhus Carrying Rats in LA Among the Piles of Trash Shows That “Progressivism” Apparently Leads to Progressive Decline

California used to be the state everyone seemed to want to move to for a fresh start. Now, it seems like a state that people are vacating as the progressive agenda is causing it to decay from within.

The title of an article The Daily Wire pretty much tells the story: “TRASH CITY: ‘Sky High’ Trash Piles Found in Los Angeles, Raising Concern About Typhus” However, “The City of Angels” is not the only area where the progressive agenda of sanctuary state and deference to the least motivated and skilled citizens is taking precedence over the productive citizens.

San Francisco and Sacramento also have major problems with homelessness, needle waste from public drug abusers, feces on the sidewalks, growing illegal immigrant populations and, of course, growing mounds of trash.

Trash Problem

As noted by the Daily Wire,

NBC4 reported Monday that “sky-high” piles of rotting trash were found around Los Angeles, leading some to worry about a new typhus outbreak.

“Even the city’s most notorious trash pile, located between downtown LA’s busy Fashion and Produce districts, continues to be a magnet for rats after it was cleaned up months ago. The rodents can carry typhus-infected fleas, which can spread the disease to humans through bacteria rubbed into the eyes or cuts and scrapes on the skin, resulting in severe flu-like symptoms,” the outlet reported.

NBC4’s investigative team said it previously had informed LA Mayor Eric Garcetti’s office about some of the trash piles in October. The piles they referred to were cleaned up, “but conditions have worsened over the next seven months” the outlet reported. When NBC investigators reported another trash pile, it was told it could be three months before the garbage was removed.

As the Daily Wire confirms LA County reported a record number of typhus cases (124) between 2013 and 2017. A disease spread not even from flea bites but also from contact with flea feces. Contact you may never ever even know you had.

LA Not Alone

San Francisco is expecting to pay more than $70 million to clean up feces and drug paraphernalia. An amount which still isn’t enough to clean up the city.

Sacramento as well is having major problems with homelessness. As reported by the California Globe, the homeless are now so numerous that they are damaging the flood control levee structures as tents are being put up by the homeless- dug into the levees “compromising their structural integrity”.

Two previous breaks in the levees in 1986 and 1995 caused extensive flooding so this concern is not without precedent.

Could It Spread Beyond California?

Tucker Carlson discusses the homeless issue he recently covered which is popping up not only in California but in other cities and college towns as well. The one common factor in all of these locations is the dominance of the progressive rule in the local area:

So, don’t think this is an isolated possibility- ’cause it isn’t.

As progressivism spreads, so do it’s products. And one of those products is abject poverty and homelessness. The one they never mention in the “progressive” leftstream media.

Found this post on the Daily Wire article and felt it pretty much lays out the issues of the progressive disease symptoms in a shortened fashion. As posted:

43rd out of 50 states for business costs, and 49th for regulatory burdens = CA.
Worst roads, commutes and driving costs in US = CA.
Worst air pollution in US with 7 of top 10 US cities in CA and drinking water safety bottom 20% = CA.
7 out of 10 immigrant households on welfare = CA.
In top 10 for overall tax rate in country = CA.
Worst affordable housing crisis in country (750,000+ home shortfall in LA Basin alone) forcing most to live in inferior conditions = CA.
Largest population of criminal aliens in country = CA.

PBS Overview of LA

PBS ran this story in 2018. The solutions provided by one “expert” as the only solution to homelessness – permanent housing completely ignore causes which is why homelessness continues to spread. A solution btw already funded by a $1 Billion (with a “b”) bond taxpayers are responsible for over the next 10 years.

Nevertheless, the coverage is shocking and gives one an overview of the extent of the problem in just one city- LA. And, as previously covered in this post, not the only or the worst problem in California.
