Is Obama’s Share the Wealth Scheme the Solution?

By Terry | collectivism

[dropcap color=”color-default” font=”georgia” style=”oblique” size=”scmgc-3em”]O[/dropcap]bama keeps pushing his tax the rich scheme straight out of Karl Marx’s class warfare strategy for equalizing society. In his dream of utopia apparently government has the wisdom to put its hands into the deepest pockets, extract whatever they can get and then wisely distribute that plunder to those who most need it.  You know the Marxist utopian “From each according to his abilities, to each according to his needs.” which has never worked anywhere it has been applied although it sounds rather harmonious.

If you haven’t seen this 1948 cartoon “Make Mine Freedom” give it a watch. It makes a point that is still valid today:’

Here is another way of describing it that was shared as a true story during the first Obama campaign. Whether it was true or not I have no way of knowing. However, it is still thought provoking and quite likely how people would react if they were directly impacted by the proposed Obama tax the rich (and the rest of us too as it would eventually play out if history is any jus) solution. A scheme which is supposed to absolve the government of its massive spending and maintain the size of government by taking from the “rich”. In Obama’s and his ilk’s minds, it is more important to retain government workers and the Leviathan of government since the rich have more than the need already…….as determined by government of course.

Now the illustrative story:

Today on my way to lunch at Zsa Zsa’s with a client, I passed a homeless guy on the corner with a sign that read “Vote Obama, I need the money.” I laughed and walked on.

Once inside the restaurant and seated with my guest at my favorite table #10 in the corner, our waiter approached us to order. I noticed that he wore an ‘Obama 08‘ tie, again I laughed as he had given away his political preference. Just imagine the coincidence.

As the waiter departed with our order, my guest and I engaged in a political conversation about the Obama tax plan that provides refunds to those taxpayers who do not pay any taxes,  but redistributes the money paid by those who do.

The meal was great, the service was terrific. When the waiter handed me the bill for the meal and walked away. I thought for a moment. Then, I told my guest that we would test the validity of Obama’s concept of redistributing our tax money right here in Zsa Zsa’s.

As the waiter approached to take my money for the bill, I told him that I decided not to leave any tip whatsoever for the terrific service. I explained to the waiter that I was exploring the Obama redistribution of wealth concept.

He stood there in disbelief while I told him that I was going to redistribute his tip to someone who we deemed more in need….the homeless guy outside who said he needed the money.

The waiter angrily protested to me, “What right did we have to take his hard earned tip and give it to someone else for the terrific service he provided? After all, he had a wife and 2 kids to support and send to college!’

I explained to him that there was nothing he could do about it. He was in the middle class. My guest and I had already voted to do this.

So, he stormed from my sight calling me every name in the book under his breath.

We then left the restaurant. I went over to the homeless guy and gave him $20. I told him to thank the waiter at table #10 inside as I’ve decided he could use the money more. The homeless guy was grateful. He took the money and promptly moved down the block.

At the end of my rather unscientific redistribution experiment, I realized the homeless guy was grateful for money he did not earn. The waiter was pretty angry that I gave away the money he did earn, even though the actual recipient performed no work or service and didn’t actually earn or deserve any money whatsoever.

What I learned was that it seems that redistribution of wealth is an easier thing to swallow in concept than applied directly in actual reality.

As Margaret Thatcher actually said: “Socialist governments traditionally do make a financial mess. They always run out of other people’s money.”
