When Was the Last Time You Heard a Black Woman Accuse a Black Man of “White Privilege”?

It’s clear to many conservative oriented thinkers that lefty progressives throw around selected memes (cultural ideas) related to identity politics as a thoughtless reflex. This seems especially true when they run out of intelligent responses to facts or statements made during a discussion on an issue that must fit into their world view as they see it.

Topic of Discussion: Diversity in the Media

CNN analyst Areva Martin was speaking on air on with David Webb on his Sirius XM Patriot radio show. David, host of the Patriot radio show and Fox News contributor was making a point on the topic of diversity in the media that hiring someone to do a media job should not be based on color but rather on the qualifications of the individual:

David Webb:

I’ve chosen to cross different parts of the media world and done the work so that I’m qualified to be in each one. I never considered my color the issue — I considered my qualifications to be the issue

CNN analyst Areva Martin then responded:

Well David, That’s a whole other long conversation about white privilege, which assumes that you (ha!) have the privilege of doing that of people of color don’t have the privilege of…

David Webb responded:

How do I have the privilege of white privilege?

Areva Martin’s response:

David, by virtue of being a white male, you have white privilege. That’s a whole long conversation I don’t have the time to get into. You have to invite……

Webb interrupted her commentary with:

Uh, Areva, I hate to break it to you, but you should’ve been better prepped. I’m black!

After a silent pause, Areva responded:

Well OK then, I stand corrected.

Oops! A Freudian slip as they say? Perhaps, more like the knee-jerk reflection of a narrowly biased mind locked into a specifically focused world view.

David Webb went on to explain to her that this is the falsehood in this assumption of white privilege. You’re talking to a black man who started out in rock radio in Boston who crossed over into hip hop and then went on to work for Fox News (“Where I’m told blacks aren’t supposed to work.) yet you come with this assumption of white privilege- that’s actually insulting.

Areva Martin then threw her “people” (her media team) under the bus and blamed them for giving her wrong information and asked to apologize.

Webb went on to explain that his family background was actually like the United Nations because of its diversity (white, black, Indian, Irish, Scottish- Hey, he may be more American Indian than Pocahontas.). Privilege being one thing based on social factors and economics but not necessarily driven by color of skin.

A day later, David Webb appeared on Fox’s Laura Ingraham show (Video of the show posted above or here.) and was less forgiving of CNN’s Areva Martin than Laura Ingraham, probably because Laura suffers from what Shelby Steele refers to in his book of the same name- white guilt.

Laura is likely skittish about being accused of racial bias. Whereas Webb doesn’t concern himself with that accusation, knowing the propensity of the left to forgive the racism of blacks while automatically placing all whites (as demonstrated at the end of Laura’s segment shown above) into the racist box.

If you are a white person, you are both “privileged” and “racist” by virtue of assumption not actual fact. In other words, because of the color of your skin, (which is a racist frame of reference which they will never admit) you are privileged, racist and therefore wrong.

Blacks and other minorities can’t be racist, of course. Just the whitey’s.

The Problem of Construct Driven Narratives

This embarrassingly ignorant and highly biased expression by Areva Martin points out a few things:

CNN is populated with dogma driven, identity politics propagandists who push specific narratives framed by a narrow band of pre-selected memes (cultural ideas). Either you fit into that meme or- you will be fit into that meme, even if you don’t.
The left, media and otherwise, are a group of people driven by a narrow minded world view. Either you agree with and accept their world view or you are wrong and worse- the enemy.
The left and leftstream media apply their memes to everyone they deem to be against their “progressive” world view. If you are found in opposition, then you are a narrow-minded bigot, wrong. They, of course, are the polar opposite- right and broad-minded.

It is this type of narrow-minded media driven by a specific narrative bias which has caused the public to turn off CNN and other biased stations, largely obsessed with an Anti-Trump and anti-conservative bias, in large numbers.

The people who do remain viewers are being fed the same identity politics driven narratives (based on the “progressive” world view) night after night. If it obviously does not fit their world view, then it is either:

Disregarded – That is to say, passed over in the news coverage. Never even reported. Viewers relying upon these news sources as sole sources of their news narratives don’t even know that these events even happened. In their minds, with the 90% or better negative coverage of Donald Trump, most loyal viewers of the anti-Trump media (CNN, MSNBC, ABC, CBS and NBC and even the big tech sites like Facebook and Twitter or Google searches) think Donald Trump has done nothing during his time in office because they never hear about it.
Narrowly and Negatively Focused– News Busters, representing the Media Research Center, found that in 2018 (just as in 2017) the news casts of ABC, CBS and NBC evening newscasts (seen by 23 million people nightly) which covered more than half of the Trump coverage focused negatively on just five top stories:

Now, anyone following the President on other conservative news sources like Fox, News Max, OAN (One America News) or through conservative oriented online sources knows that the Donald Trump Presidency has been about way more that just these 5 issues. In fact, the Washington Examiner compiled a list of 289 accomplishments during Trump’s first 20 months in office which I covered in this post.

Either the media is being willfully ignorant or willfully biased. Regardless, they are no longer functioning as objective news sources but rather biased propaganda arms of the “progressive” left. Goes to show if you are on the left, in their minds, you are actually right.
