Collateral Damage- Why Can the Military Kill Innocent Civilians and Nobody Talks About Controlling Their Guns?

By Terry | 2nd Amendment

[dropcap color=”color-default” font=”arial” style=”oblique” size=”scmgc-3em”]I[/dropcap] guess its OK if you are in the military and a few dozen, hundred or even hundreds of thousands of civilians die as a result of what is referred to as Collateral Damage, the title of a book by Chris Hedges. After all, they are the military and represent their respective governments. And well, government is always right isn’t it? Or rather authority gets a free pass on doing things that would be considered illegal under current laws.

For example, government military troops can kill innocent civilians during the course of war and no one raises up in protest wanting to take away the guns and armor of the military now do they? Or government can put their hands in an honest man’s pockets, pull out the fruits of his labor (his wages), remove a chunk they call taxation and spend it on whatever they deem as important can’t they?

Now, in common parlance, either of the above acts would be called murder or theft. However since the government does it, and the government is the authority, well then it is quite OK. At least, it seems that the majority of people have been conditioned to go along with that way of thinking it seems.

Washington is commonly attributed to have said, “Government is not reason, it is not eloquence. It is force, and like fire, it is a dangerous servant and a fearful master.”

Now, whether he said that or not is not important. If the shoe fits, wear it and in this case the shoe fits. Try, for example, not paying your taxes and come to the attention of the government and you will see the meaning of that quote in action.

Government is force and a fearful one at that provided we allow it to be. Witness totalitarian regimes as under Communism. Read The Black Box of Communism or Professor Rummel’s Death By Government for a taste of what totalitarian controls under government can do.

Or you can read Chris Hedges short book called Collateral Damage: America’s War Against Iraqi Citizens or listen to Chris Hedges discuss his book on YouTube:

Now, I don’t want to single out American troops because the destruction of personal property and lives of innocent civilians is a modern, world wide phenomena. However, my question is why can the military get away with murder, intentional or not, and no one talks about controlling their guns? Yet, if some insane and demon possessed individual conducts mass killings, our government wants to control all of our guns. Guess they think it’s OK for them to kill significantly higher numbers of innocents including unarmed woman and children but not us right?

Why the double standard? Wonder if it has anything to do with power and control over us by them? Naaaah……must be imagining things. They only have our best interests in mind right?
